Mother's Day

P-Day 98

Hi Mommy,

Alaska is beautiful and rainy. Slightly chillier this week because of the rain and some cool breezes but when the sun is out. IT IS HOT. I am going to die in AZ. That kid sounds like Garrett! Lol jkjk. Glad my truck is on it's way to getting fixed (:

That blessing was cool! The church is true. Don't worry about people asking questions. 1. You will never be asked as weird of questions that are asked here in the Hmong branch. Like: Here in America, they doctors take the placenta. When the kids die and aren't buried near the placenta, do they go to a different place instead of the spirit world. Haha that was a weird one. And 2. You can always say: I don't know the answer but I can study it out and find you one. Or ask if anybody knows an answer. 3. Always testify!

And you don't have to worry about the suit. I have 2 solid ones that I obtained in my mission and haven't worn a ton. So I will have 2 good ones for when I go home. Any other advice for things to bring?

But we had a good week this week. Busy week for the most part. I had to do some translating this week. There is a family who has had some troubles lately and fell behind on their car payment. They don't speak English so I went over and translated the phone call and helped get some things squared away. Or start to at least. I also had to translate some temple recommend interviews for the Stake presidency.

Besides that we did the same old same old. We have a former investigator who believes in the Book of Mormon but doesn't want to get baptized. He has had super high blood pressure and is at risk for a stroke. He also doesn't speak English and apparently the translators aren't very good because he got no medication or anything to help the high blood pressure. All he was given was anti depressants. So... we talked with him about exercising more and eating healthier. He has been super sick for about 2-3 years now; ever since I have been here or longer. But because of it his speech is slurred and he is in terrible condition. But his heart has opened. Hopefully, he will begin to act on the spiritual promptings he has been given.

I love you. Probably going hiking today so I'll send photos!

P-Day 96

Hi mommy

Nope I didn't feel any earthquake. And yeah we are in a trio for only one more week. President said he won't stay here. But we have transfer calls. My last one! Wow, what another wonderful week. We had beautiful weather, the sun is out, and things flew by. I cannot believe it is the last week of the transfer.

So last P-day I tried to do the Pho Challenge. It is a flower pot almost for a bowl and you have to eat 2 pounds (dry) of Pho noodles, 2 pounds of meat and 64oz of broth in an hour. Let's just say my pace was super slow so I had to pick it up. I threw up and was disqualified. I was bummed but worth the experience!!

Tuesday we had district meeting. I gave Elder Rogers a training on diligence and he did this activity from a Zone Conference about a year ago. None if he missionaries in my district are old enough to have seen it. It was about the premortal life and the decision we made then. So we reenacted it. It was good! I was Jehovah and lovingly encourage Elder Poppleton to pick the Father's plan and Elder Rogers was Satan trying to lie and deceive and frighten Elder Poppleton into his plan. It was fun!

We got in with some people this week that we haven't seen in a while. We got to see Randy and Ty Yang. We also did some service for a nonmember Hmong guy. He owns a restaurant in Chugiak and we helped him out with his yard and he fed us. He and his wife always cook food and it was the best.

Fast and testimony meeting was a solid one. One of our older member couples just got back from a funeral and turns out they are moving. They got up and bore strong testimonies. It was a powerful meeting. I had to translate a part too. That was fun and difficult. Listening, switching the words in the brain, and then saying them out loud can be a difficult thing.

Besides that... it was a good week. We got in with a lot of people, did some tracting and had a good enjoyable week. Thanks for all the support and sorry my emails are getting worse and worse. It's difficult writing the same thing every week and making it interesting but this is the Lord's church, Thomas S. Monson is the Lord's prophet and the Book of Mormon is true! Have a good week everybody!

And for Skype calls, I am good anytime after 12 our time. We have meetings and church all before that. So let me know what works for you (: I love you!

P-Day 95

Hi Mom!

I have gotten the new debit card. So you can call and activate. But that is cool that Sister Woolsey got her temple recommend. Also how is Tyler doing? I had sent him that email and never heard back. Haha and the analogy just made me hungry lolol. But yeah that is weird, Kruz had emailed me saying he was coming home but idk why, I have to figure it out. Jacob may get home like a week before me too. And all these people left after me!

But we had a good week. Idk if I told you but, we are in a trio. We got called last Monday and we got an ET. A white elder came in here to be with us. President told us it would be for 3 weeks only and then he would leave. Super weird, I don't know why President put him in a language ward but he is inspired.

This week was an interesting week because we had several lessons with people who didn't speak English. It is normal to teach people who don't speak English but Elder Rogers, the new elder, had no clue. Haha it was funny.

On Wednesday, we had another lesson with Txawj Vaj. We brought President Lee with us. Haha it turned into a 3 hour lesson. Txawj and President Lee just small talked for like 45 minutes and then we gave Txawj Vaj a General Conference DVD in Hmong. The wife brought out tea for us. So President Lee very boldly explained the Word of Wisdom. It was bold that he explained it but how he went about it. He explained the law and then blessings and very boldly testified they need to live it and explained what would happen if they didn't. Haha it was funny. Then we started watching a little bit of GC. We watched the Prophet, Joy D. Jones, and Elder Choi's talks. President Lee beforehand had asked if they had any questions and they would he answered while watching. They were answered. Txawj Vaj's wife is super interested but Txawj Vaj is so so. Hopefully this will start to soften his heart as he watches Conference more. But it ended but being like a 3 hour lesson and Elder Lor and Elder Rogers kind of just sat there while me and President Lee taught.

Thursday we got a referral from the Spanish elders. They tracked into a Hmong lady who wanted to know more but her English was poor. So we went back that day and I taught the PoS, The Book of Mormon and gave her pamphlets for the first 2 lessons and a BoM. She said the come back in a month when she has read everything. We'll go back sooner but she could be golden!

Friday I went on exchanges to an American Ward. I went with Elder Anderson who had come out with me. That was fun because we have been out the same time. We just did service the whole day for some nonmembers and the next day as well. But We had the opportunity to talk to several people during the process and got fed by several nonmembers.

Sunday was a good day as always. Told we are probably just playing sports with the zone. I am excited for the week. I love you!
