P-Day 90

Nyob zoooooooooooo

I'm doing good! Thank you for taking care of all the college stuff! Pshhh and job? Who will hire somebody for a month?

It was another good week! It was definitely difficult and full of trials but it was great and still had its miracles as well. No matter how hard a week can be, there are always miracles and you can always see the hand of the Lord.

Last Monday we just balled and Hnub dropped us for the time being. Without getting into detail, it won't be that long.

Tuesday we had exchanges with the YSA elders. I went into YSA with Elder Hunter. It was weird speaking in English all day. I didn't like it. But we knocked a lot of doors and sent off a few referrals to the Spanish elders. They are probably very happy about that.

Wednesday was Elder Lor's birthday! So for a birthday treat we tracted! Lolol also we ate some Pho.

Thursday we had trainer trainee and it was very good and very spiritual. I really enjoyed it. Last one of my mission too. Afterwards, we finally got in with Ju Pao for a bit. He was sick so we just said hi and talked for a few but it finally worked out that we could see him!

Friday, we finally got to see Gary Lee. This was the first time ever I got to have a good sit down talk with him. Turns out he likes hunting and fishing up here in Alaska. We had a good chat. But we also shared with him a message that God loves him. I hope it built his faith.

Saturday we just knocked and knocked again. But Elder Lor's uncle invited us over. So that was fun. We are some food and they talked.

Sunday was a good day. We had a very spiritual and revelatory church service. But after that, we once again knocked doors.

There is like... no cool stories. Sorry! But I have a few photos. I love and miss you!

P-Day 89

Nyob zoo niam!

I am doing great! I am glad you had a great first week. Lol Brad Wilcox is really funny so I bet that was a blast. And send some heat up here!!! We are consistently in the high 20s, low 30s and we could use some more. Although, I have been wearing nothing but a white shirt when it is above like... 10-15 because it is so warm. I am wayyyyyy to acclimated now. Arizona July is going to suck.

But this week was a normal week. We didn't end up going hiking last p-day. We just played basketball instead! So that was fun.

Wednesday we had to move a water heater from a burnt trailer to one of our part members family's trailer. So we got a YSA member who is a contractor to help us. We completely forgot the fact that it is winter and the water inside the water heater was frozen. So it took 5 of us to try and move it.... That was heavy.

Saturday was our branch potluck. This week, all we did was hand out flyers for the potluck. We visited nearly every less active. We were running around like crazy! People would invite us in and we would be like "Nope, we got to get running." But we had a lot of LAs come to the event! We had a talent show and a lot of food. It was a blast.

So I totally had a FOB (fresh off the boat) moment this week. I was having a Hmong conversation and the lady said "Lub hli april..." (The month of April) I was thinking: "Oh there is a word I don't know in this sentence, let me ask what it means." So I ask "April txhais li cas?" (What does april mean, or what does April translate to) But I said it totally slow like I was trying to figure out the word. Everybody is the room starting laughing and I was super confused why. Hahah then everybody was like "Lub Plaub hli ntuj!" (The 4th month, which is how you would say it in Hmong, Hmong in america just use the english name most of the time.) Oh my gosh, it was so funny. I DON'T REMEMBER ENGLISH!!!

But I love you!

P-Day 88

Hi Mom!!!

The work is going really really good as always. We have been doing a lot of tracting and such but it is fun to talk to a lot of people.

It hasn't snowed in a long time but the temperatures are 25-32 usually. But now that the daylight savings came into effect it is sunny when we go in at 9!

Did you have your appointment? How was the fireside? I am excited to hear about it.

This week was super busy but not super exciting to write about. Last P-day we played basketball.

Tuesday was district meeting. At the beginning of district meeting I had given everyone Krispy Kreme donuts and said don't do anything with them. Then we went through district meeting and I had trained last. I asked everyone to throw away the donut. One person ate it and a few refused. But, everyone who threw it away, after I finished the training, got Dairy Queen lunch and a donut.

I trained on patience and how patience is giving up something we want now, for greater blessings later. It was fun hehehe but not good on my allotment card.

We went on exchanges after. I was with Elder Hunter, my zone leader. He is cool, he had to go home for back surgery and then came back out. But we tracted a lot and visited a lot of FoBs (Fresh off the Boats). So there was no english.

But Wednesday we went to the temple. That was fun and one of the most spiritual times I have been there.

Thursday was uneventful. We helped cook food for the homeless and then tried people.

Friday we exchanged with the YSA elders. Elder Poppleton came here and Elder Lor went there. We had too much stuff to do for us two. So we split it into two for them and us. We had service and baptism preparation.

Saturday was the baptism! It was really cool. Sorry..... No pictures..... But it was awesome! I baptized him and President Lampert confirmed him. It was an 8 year old of a family that me and Ryan baptized.

But besides that it has been a normal week. We are possibly going hiking today. We aren;t sure but I love and miss you!

P-Day 87

Hi Mom!

Wow, this was a busy, busy week. We had so many meetings and things going on. I like the talk and the analogy that President Nevitt used.

Last p-day we just played basketball. It has been so long since I just played for a few hours. I was so out of shape and my shot was off. But it was a blast!

Tuesday, we picked up the Nome elders and took them to do errands. We also ate at 2 different Samoan restaurants. So we had very generous portions. But also went on a mini exchange and I went with Elder Fale. He is from Tonga but has lived in America for the last several years so he speaks english well, but we were looking for Hmong people so that was fun. We knocked on this door and he was a Hmong guy from Thailand. He had been in America for a little less then 2 years. That was fun talking with him about Thailand and how he liked America.

Wednesday, we had zone conference. It was amazing. We went over the things Elder Ardern taught and how we can apply them to our mission. We also learned about using the pamphlets and the temple. It was amazing.

The next day we dropped off Nome and went to trainer trainee meeting. That was another spiritual experience. We talked about beginning with the end in mind. We have to know where we want to go to get there. I also learned a lot about goals. I was sitting on a row with Elder Gentry, my first trainee, Elder Lor, my current trainee, and Elder Gentry's trainee. We had a little family reunion going on!!!

But yeah, Friday we went up to Chugiak and talked with a few investigators up there. We talked with several people up there and had a good meal at the Fried Rice Express.

Saturday we did service for the Iditarod ceremonial first start. So we got assigned to work an intersection by our selves. So we arrive at the intersection and someone comes up to us and says, "Why are you here? There is nothing to do here." Haha so they moved us up a block and we did "crowd control." What it meant was stand there and watch. So we OYM'd people around us. We also got to pull our car right up and could hop in when it got cold and there was food trucks! Haha we got spoiled rotten.

Sunday was a good day! We had a decent attendance at about 40 and there were amazing testimonies. This Saturday we have a baptism! Lori Vue, one of the people me and Ryan brought to the church, her son is getting baptized this Saturday. I am very humbled because he asked me to perform it. It is amazing to have this opportunity and to see miracles.

I love you!
